This will be short, because this week will be short. Or maybe long. Long, then very short.
I made it to the weekend! Hurrah! Just so everyone knows, I don't hate my life, but I DO need to re-design my Mondays-Fridays, 9:00am-5:00pm. It's oh, so great to get a steady paycheque, but oh-so soul-sucking. I will keep my eyes out for all the adventure that's just around the corner (as if I haven't been already). Recently, I've been starting to think of going to school for more artness. I'm not sure how much of this is influenced by everyone else I know going back to school this month. I think I will re-evaulate when I start getting the e-mails of overwhelmment (if that's a word) come October. Hmm. Dundas Valley School of Art and some other schools in the area have 1 year programs that are kind of like an in-between an art degree and grad school and (or) studio practice. I have to do something art-related or I WILL die of a withered soul. I say that in all seriousness.
In the meantime, some other fun things have been going on.
I walked into church last week as per usual and ran into . . . GINELLE! . . . WHAT?!! It threw me SO far out of my headspace. I wasn't expecting to see her at all. It was SO good to see you! I hadn't seen her since Dordt grad and it was so strange, but so good. Strange to have 2 of my present and past worlds colliding like that. GOOD to have some gezelligheid all around - tea and good conversation with Ann and Ginnelle . . . and a happy hello to Ann's new housemate, Jen.
That was the highlight of Sunday. (Yes, I just used the word "good" WAY too many times in this paragraph.)
Monday-Friday was pretty blah (so we won't bother dwelling on it).
Then there's this coming week: For anyone who doesn't know yet that my BROTHER BEN IS GETTING MARRIED, it's pretty much THE THING going on in these parts. As a bridesmaid, I get to take part in EVEN MORE of the fun, which, at the moment, means constructing a decent-looking box to put cards into at the reception. Hmmm. I got that task delegated to me last night. It's not a bad task, though odd . . . and there are about 100 other things I also need to do before Friday, October 3 (which is THE BIG DAY). All of those things are wedding related, except the ICS conference I'm headed to tomorrow and the International Art Show in Toronto, which I missed last year and am DETERMINED to get to this time around. We shall see. . . on all accounts. One thing at a time. #1: Finish card box. Hmm. #2: Get at least 4 hours of sleep tonight. . . . Does anyone else feel like life in the "real world" flies about 20x faster than in the academic world?

Soul sucking jobs need to die, friend. You should do something about it. And make some art.
I miss you.
