It's not really my story to tell, but since most of you don't know him anyway and aren't around to spread the word to people they haven't told, here you have it: Ben's engaged! That's my brother, one of my 2 brothers who are both younger than myself. If you happen to be from around here and you are reading this, don't you dare let it slip. It hasn't quite gotten around to all the important people yet. Erin, the lucky gal, is a welcome addition to our family, so we're all smiles today! Just had to share that with you all.
Second: HAPPY THANKSGIVING! It's my first real Canadian xgiving in 4 years and besides the fact that it was a smokin' 30 degrees today with the humidity making us feel like 39 (general american translation = definitely over 100F), all was well with the world. I HATE humidity and I'd take a snow storm over this any day, but the trees are ablaze with colours so beautiful it could make a person cry. For that, I will put up with pictures global warming is painting in Southern Ontario for the present.
And just in case you read the last post, I have managed to take up a few creative projects, one being a scarf to add to my collection that I put together (NO crochet or knitting involved- I don't have the patience for that) from the most fabulous wool I bought downtown Toronto at Romni Wool, the juiciest wool/yarn shop I've ever met. Cold weather is so much more fun in colour.
I've also sewn-up a pile of flags, a little hard to explain, so I won't even go there, but basically, the idea is that I've been working away at a few little projects, all very good for the soul.
I now need a new project. I think my problem might be that I don't have a medium to call my own. I'm seriously lacking in the painting department, I get lost in the process of all that is sculpture, and as much as I've liked the black and white prints I've pressed, the colour ones don't turn out as worthwhile. . . . My love affair with colour won't allow my head to thoroughly enjoy anything that doesn't have more than 2 colours in it. The art of ceramics is soothing and calming, but just doesn't expose what's stuck in my head. . . . The list flows on.
Drawing might be okay. Interesting thought. That's the one thing I never was interested in pursuing in the beginning. Things do change though. I really should get passionate with my charcoal and pastels again, but I think I might be putting drawing off for reasons related to intimidation and the pressure of producing something REAL, rather than just accepting the fact that a lot of things turn out to be shit before they morph into anything else.
Here's to the challenge. I MUST.

So I just stumbled upon your blog...and I must say, I'm so very glad that I did! I miss you, so reading about your life is somewhat soothing. Also, maybe you can't commit to a media because your so darn amazing at all of them. Seriously, your artistic talent has always amazed me.
Oh, and I'm in love with fall colours as well. I'm glad to know a fellow appreciater.
